# Archiving and Repository Policy

How JCRT preserves its content (Internet Archive, Knowledge Commons, DOIs) and its policy allowing authors to deposit any version of their article in a repository without embargo.

## Long-term preservation #long-term-preservation

Every article PDF published in the *Journal for Cultural and Religious Theory* is deposited in the [Internet Archive](https://archive.org/) on publication, so that the content remains available if the journal or its publisher ceases to operate. Articles are additionally deposited in [Knowledge Commons Works](https://works.hcommons.org/collections/whitestone), the repository that registers each article’s DOI, and every article carries a DOI that resolves to it. The journal’s own files are held at [files.jcrt.org](https://files.jcrt.org/) with version-controlled copies maintained by the publisher.

## Repository and self-archiving policy #repository-and-self-archiving-policy

Authors may deposit any version of their article in an institutional repository, a subject repository, a personal website, or any other repository of their choice, at any time and with no embargo. This applies to the submitted manuscript (preprint), the accepted manuscript, and the published version of record. Deposits should cite the original publication in JCRT and, where possible, link to the article’s DOI. Authors need not ask the journal’s permission.

## Persistent identifiers #persistent-identifiers

Articles published in the journal’s archive carry Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) registered through Knowledge Commons. Article pages also carry stable URLs of the form `https://jcrt.org/archives///`, which the journal maintains permanently and redirects if the site structure changes.

## Metadata and discovery #metadata-and-discovery

Article metadata is exposed through an OAI-PMH endpoint, Google Scholar and Dublin Core meta tags, JATS and DataCite records, and RIS and CSL-JSON citation files, and is available to indexing and discovery services. The journal is indexed by EBSCO. JCRT does not display impact factors or journal rankings.
